 Overview

Fireproof Insulation Market is forecast to reach $21.76 billion by 2025, after growing at a CAGR of 3.22% during 2020-2025. Fireproof insulations are useful in battling with the spread of flames in case of fire which includes active and passive fire protection. The passive fire protection solutions include fireproof casings and fire-resistant walls.  Fireproof insulation mainly comes in five forms which include chopped fibers, fibrous mat and textiles, foam, board, films, and foils. In order to comply with the safety regulations set up by government bodies, the demand of the fireproof insulation market is expected to grow during the forecast period. The report covers Fireproof Insulation Market size by type and applications, Fireproof Insulation Market share by top 5 companies and also the market share by start-ups during the forecast period.

Report Coverage

The report: “Fireproof Insulation Market – Forecast (2020-2025)”, by IndustryARC, covers an in-depth analysis of the following segments of the Fireproof Insulation Market.

Key Takeaways

  • The increasing fireproof insulation usage in naval ships, to save them from internal fire is likely to provide opportunities for the studied market, during the forecast period.
  • Asia-Pacific dominated the global market, owing to the increasing construction sector.
  • Rockwool insulation is known for natural fire-resistant which is been used as an insulation to prevent the fire in the building.

By Material - Segment Analysis

Glass wool segment held a significant share of the fireproof insulation market in 2019. Increasing demand from construction around the world is driving the growth of this segment. Glass wool is produced in blankets, rolls, slabs, and loose-fill with different thermal and mechanical properties. Glass wool products are capable of providing class 0 and class 1 level of fire safety according to the British Standards. These materials are flexible, acoustic, non-combustible, lightweight and non-degradable and are not very expensive in comparison to other insulating materials which make it a widely used insulant material used for fireproof insulation.

Plastic foam is the fastest-growing material segment of the fireproof insulation market. This growth is mainly due to the properties of plastic foam insulation materials that are non-fibrous in nature and therefore personal protection equipment is not required during mounting. Different types of plastic foam insulation materials include polyurethane, polystyrene, phenolic foam and polyisocyanurate. According to the British Standard 476 and superior R-value, these materials possess decent fire resistance. Plastic foams are used in different forms such as spray-applied insulation and rigid board insulation.

By Application - Segment Analysis

Commercial buildings segment held the largest share of the fireproof insulation market in 2019. This is mainly due to an increase in the adoption of fire safety regulation in the commercial building sector in developing countries, thus increasing the demand for fireproof insulation. Stone wool, fiberglass, PUR insulation and foam board are the materials majorly used for insulating flat fireproof. Fireproof insulation is equally important in the residential buildings as in commercial buildings. If insulated properly, it can provide extra escape time of several minutes depending on the building size and material used to insulate.

Geography - Segment Analysis

Asia Pacific dominated the fireproof insulation market with a share of more than 35% during the forecast period. The building and construction industry in this region is witnessing growth owing to increasing public and private sector investments in commercial and residential construction projects. Continuous modifications in the building regulations and the energy-saving initiatives have been helpful in supporting the market growth in this region. Increasing government initiatives regarding building safety along with environmental concerns regarding GHG emissions may stimulate regional growth. Rise in protective clothing demand due to increasing development in oil & gas, chemicals, and petrochemical sectors is expected to have a positive influence on the fireproof insulation market.

North America held a significant share in the fireproof insulation market as the U.S is the largest oil and gas producing country. The high risk of fire in the oil and gas plants has increased the consumption of fireproof insulation products in the region's oil and gas industry. Moreover, U.S manufacturing is booming owing to the increase in the number of food manufacturing companies, which is fueling the need for fireproof insulation materials for industrial equipment and machinery.

Drivers – Fireproof Insulation Market

  • Strict government regulations

Strict government regulations in construction sector accompanied by rising environmental concerns regarding GHG reduction and low installation costs are driving industry growth. The increasing efforts by governments and several private organizations worldwide to reduce greenhouse gasses emissions are paving way for the robust growth of the global fireproof insulation market. Stringent codes for building safety, particularly in developed countries, are boosting the uptake of fireproof insulation materials. Moreover, the low cost of these insulations along with rebates and tax credits offered by several governments across the world are stoking the growth of the market.

Challenges – Fireproof Insulation Market

  • Lack of awareness of product

In developing countries small and medium-sized enterprises are less aware of the benefits offered by fireproof insulations. Thus, the lack of awareness is impeding the growth of the fireproof insulation market. Furthermore, the sluggish growth of the construction sector in Europe has a negative impact on the overall market. However, developing countries are expected to emerge in the near future, owing to the growing focus towards fire safety.

Market Landscape

Technology launches, acquisitions, and R&D activities are key strategies adopted by players in the fireproof insulation market. In 2019, the market of fireproof insulation has been consolidated by the top five players accounting for xx% of the fireproof insulation market share. Major top 10 companies of fireproof insulation market are BASF SE, Owens Corning, Saint Gobain, Paroc Group, Knauf Insulations GmbH, GAF, and Kingspan Group among others.

Expansion

  • In February 2019, Rockwell International A/S, manufacturer of mineral wool products has expanded its manufacturing facility in South Wales and Bridgend. Mineral wool is the key source of fireproof insulation material.
